Volunteer Opportunities

The Dharma Center is run completely by volunteers. Volunteer work at the Center provides us with a beautiful vehicle for extending our practice off the cushion and into our daily lives. It is a wonderful way to meaningfully participate in our sangha (community), and to strengthen our capacity for attention, caring, and generosity.

Here are some of the many opportunities for volunteer work.

The Library.   Volunteers are always appreciated to help our two librarians.  If you have time, please contact them to see how you can help.  Tasks include organizing shelves, managing checked out materials, and digitizing AV materials.  For  more information, contact Carolyn Ray or Dorothy Smith.

The Communications Committee is responsible for publicity for all the events sponsored by the Dharma Center as well as the monthly calendar, our quarterly newsletter Bodhi Leaves, our website, Facebook, email contacts, and general outreach to the greater community.   This Committee also maintains membership records and databases.  The committee welcomes help from anyone, with or without experience.   Meetings are generally held on the first Monday of each month. The committee welcomes help from anyone, with or without experience. For more information, contact Katie Egart.

The House and Garden Committee is responsible for maintenance of the physical property, including the house and our beautiful gardens. During the growing season, gardening is done on Fridays following morning meditation (7:45AM) for about an hour or so. All are welcome. Other opportunities for work on the building or grounds can be arranged through the committee. Volunteers with carpentry and painting skills are especially welcome to help with the house maintenance. For more information, contact Katie Egart.
